Uncommon portraits - Uniquely Framed

Paige is an actor and watercolor artist living in New York City with her husband and fish Spectra.

A few months after my elderly mother died, my dearest friend, Jenny, who has since passed away, started treatment for stage4 colon cancer I thought "I can't do that AND doom scroll." So while she got treatments we chatted and I sketched. I people watched, pigeon watched and sketched, I walked to my favorite places in and out of the city and I sketched. Then came the watercolor, using the techniques I learned in school. Every person I showed them to smiled, which was very satisfying. I thought maybe I should make a few more and make more smiles.

Pigeonholed Portraits began when I saw another artist's depiction of pigeons. They were black & white. No bold colors? No personality? I was frankly offended as a New Yorker. "Pigeons are the sassiest of city birds. I've been cussed out by a pigeon! Haven't YOU?"
